Hi there friends and fellow crafters, Labor Day in the US is over, temperatures are going to start getting better, and that means CAMPING. SO, to highlight this great time I brought out the Joy Clair Designs Happy Camper stamp set and got to work.
For the cover of my card I first used a panel of black cardstock and a Hero Arts die to cut out the scene. The panel behind that die cut was made using the "Shaving Cream Technique", basically Foaming Shaving Cream on a paper plate, drop in ink colors you want for your project, for this I used Memento Dandelion, Memento Cantaloupe, Delicata Ruby Red, Delicata Pink Shimmer and Delicata Gold. Just a few drops of each and then swirl them around with a bamboo skewer. Plop the card panel in the gooey mixture and then wipe off with a squeegie. What remains is a marbled masterpiece that dries quickly.
Sticking with the colors of a camper we used to own, I used my Ohuhu Alcohol Markers to color it up. I used to love going camping and the sunset was always the prettiest time (not a morning person so never watched it rise). Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?
For the inside of my card I kept it simple with the Happy Camper sentiment and the bonfire image from the stamp set. My cardbase is Black #110 cardstock from Recollections. My white panels are Hammermill #80 Premium Color/Copy/Cover with the Chameleon on the packaging.
The other thing I loved was sitting around the fire with our friends at night before or after going out for an ATV or Swamp Buggy die for a few hours. Some would bring out something to snack on, a few would bring out the drinks and we would just sit and chat for hours. We were members of a Conservation Club where we would go most weekends to relax. I miss those days
